Be sure of the changes you need to make, getting new shelves added or drawers, or maybe the new interiors of the room will require a few changes as well. There are many kinds of closets but best recommended is to have one with small box shelves for more piles and shoe store up as well.

5 Steps to Organize your Closet

Basics: Identify your room spacing and your closet the way or direction it is maybe movable or not, can more shelves be added and how is what you need to plan for if getting a major transformation while organizing. Second know all the kind of subcategories of clothing you have, from Shirts to Blazers and Trousers to any bottom wear.

Step 1

First start with emptying the entire closet with all clothing, linens to bag, and shoes to whatever may be stored up in there. So you have an empty closet to start organizing, you may first divide the inventory into sections briefly like clothing, belts and shoes, and others. Once done, see the amount of section you have most that would be the clothing of course, and sort these into smaller sections as the type and seasonal wear.

Step 2

Add boxes or large containers if needed to store such stuff like socks, ties or cufflinks. See if you can manage to buy reconstructing by simple fittings and fixtures, add a shelf or divide one into smaller sections, or get those pull out racks (these are nice and well sorted see it here) for trousers. Divide your stuff which needs to be placed in the wardrobe and that which doesn’t belong inside at all.

Take out what you haven’t been wearing at all and also take away the clothes which do not fit in the season like, winter gone or summer past so store up these in the top store shelves, do keep one or two cardigans or sweaters out in summer to the rainy season, you may need one as per the climate.

Step 3

Now if you have a theme for your room interior go with the track, let the shades of clothing and stuff like containers to boxes match this, it will add a good effect to the closet wall. As some closets don’t have doors and have floor curtains or glass slides, so store and match the clothing on the outer hand as per the theme.

Step 4

Folding up certain clothing and not needs to be specific as per your likings, I would suggest t-shirts being folded rather than hanged on hangers as they become droopy if hung for a long time. Divide your daily routine shirts and office shirts away from your dress shirts to party shirts, the same for the blazers and suiting.

Keep which is in daily use on one side hanging and the other occasional wear on the other side hanging in the same space. Keep a tie drawer and sock drawer separates its easier to find and match up. Your drawers, boxers, and innerwear need to go in a drawer, not to display this of course.

Step 5

Shoes and footwear for office and formal occasions on one side and the casual ones on the other side but both need to be stored on lower shelves or say bottom spaces. Put your expensive dress shoes in the boxes on top of the shelves. If you use bags keep them on a top-level not to top though. Belts need a proper hanger to be hung properly. Store up the rest like hats and caps on the top level and all accessories in boxes to special drawers.

Extra Tips:

  • While storing in boxes make sure you have anti-pesticide protection for clothing.
  • Storing your eyewear in a sectioned drawer is neat.
  • Watches and wallets to cufflinks all need stands and their cases to store stacked or straight in one shelf or another.
  • Do the color theme, it really helps to give more volume and design to the room.
  • Unused or no more in use clothes to stuff can be donated for the needy.

There you go, you have a good well-organized men’s wardrobe just easy for any day and any time to strive into.
