Ever since the 2000s the trend is going hyped with pre-stitched sarees. Initially my fav designer Anamika Khanna who introduced the concept of ready to wear sarees for mainly foreign clients.Now other designers are making new changes to it for every fashion season!

Wearing a saree has been a lengthy task for all ladies, including Indian women. With a busy lifestyle schedule, no one has the time to drape the saree perfectly. Hence the style still persisted and is most worn for main occasions like parties, weddings and events.

The video also shows some interesting draping styles for ready to wear sarees. As time goes on, women want new ways to carry an outfit from its basic style. Here’s where I gave some extra tips on draping a pre-stitched saree in different ways. Let’s discuss those later.

Majorly there are 2-3 types of Ready to wear saree styles:

The style to hold the front pleats into place at the waistline. Making it more comfortable for ladies to move around. Although it;s more of a fashion thing now rather than comfort. We see all ready to wear sarees come with embellished belts that match the border of the saree concept.

The entire saree as it’s made with a skirt and pleats or a wrap around skirt, it has a draped palla that sits nice at the left shoulder. But this can be paired with a jacket as an addition to the already blouse or crop top it has. There are different kinds of jackets with ready to wear saree. A long high low open jacket with saree. A short embellished mid waist open jacket with tie up strings.
A short or mid length paper collar jacket in cut work or edges and collar lapels are embellished, are some trends in jackets with saree trends of the year.

The saree with a twist of draping pattern, The skirt that looks like a draped dhoti skirt with short pleats in front. An attached pallu drape from mid waistline, and a not even palla end. So all these patterns together look like a gown, in a saree gown style that’s easy to wear like a skirt and top.

A palazzo saree is also an example of the ready to wear saree in palazzo style. Instead of the skirt, wear a palazzo that has the palla drape attached to it. It becomes more comfortable in terms of dancing and moving around.

The trending embroideries are a huge part of the season, when it comes to saree with borders. And ready to wear sarees borders are the main concept of this pre-stitched garment.

  • Thread embroidered readymade sarees – Blouses in floral motifs with resham or cottonvthreads.
  • Bead embroidered saree concepts – That come with all types of beads and colors that match the saree. Borders and blouses are heavily embellished in bead work.
  • Zardosi embroidered ready to wear sarees – The borders are embellished in zardosi work, with other metallic elements or sequins. Blouses in a statement zarodis work concept while sarees are plain.

The most commonly found style of fabric in ready to wear saree collection would be in lycra. This is lycra net, easily stretchable, gives smooth softness for cowls and easy to carry. Embellished borders and belts in the same concept with a lycra saree in pre-stitched concepts are available in budget range.

The trend is on from last year, where we saw celebrities also carry the crimped fabric half and half ready to wear sarees. Some saree in crimped effect with a ruffle in the lower edge of saree gives an interesting structure.

The style is just based on printed designs, this could be on georgette, crepe or satin, and the flawless printed saree in ready to wear style. Simple but prints like indie prints, florals and stylish stripes are still in trend for the year.

Draping Styles for Ready to Wear Sarees – New Ideas

The new trendy sarees can be draped in different ways with the palla. Here are some interesting ways.

  1. Stitch the shoulders together, then open the pleats, allowing the palla to fall on the arm. Align the pleats at the bust line. Gives a new stylish look in a pleated cowl look.
  2. If it’s a lycra saree, you can drape it like a gown. Take the palla from the back, and pass it from the front under the top pleats and tuck in the waistline left side. You have a cowl look below as well. Take a look at the video to see how to do this.
  3. You can loop the palla around your neck. This looks best in a jacket style pre-stitched saree concept.
  4. You can go with a wrap around your shoulders like a shawl wrap. And hold the pleats with a belt.
