The process is no cut no-stitch one. Take any satin-based regular saree leave the palla in the starting and hold the starting portion which is going to be inside. Now measure the length around the waist where you want to make start and end your front lower portion pleats.
Now start making a pleat according to your preference don’t flatten it by hand or make them hide one over the other. Maintain a minimal gap in overlapping of pleats and pin it up with safety pins. Silk saree is a bit tricky for making pleats, therefore, one important aspect you need is Iron. Now Spread the pallu section on the table and start making pleats length wisely. Adjust the pleats one over the other by pinning them randomly once you gathered all the pleats perfectly and sophisticated iron it with freehand don’t iron it harshly.
Mark the required pallu length with help of a pin for tucking it to the shoulder. Next, you want a nice pleating effect on the chest portion so to make it, spread the pallu pleats with equal distance as per your requirement and start ironing it gently don’t make harsh pleating lines as it will reduce the volume and nice draping effect of the sari.
The same process is to be followed for making lower skirt front pleats. Gather the pleats without flattening them then again repeat the ironing process from the underneath backside of the pleats as we don’t want the crease line to be visible. Again do it gently then hold it properly with the help of a pin and save the saree to use it whenever you need it.
