It’s always the Bollywood Style Icons that most of the fashion fans are focused on. So let’s take it up to another saree draping blog post added to our innovative saree draping posts. We had these post requests and Video Tutorial requests incoming from many of our blog readers.
Wearing a saree like a Bollywood saree style is something we all ladies look out for, from color, design, fabric to style of draping.
Here’s a post on How to wear the Shraddha Kapoor Bollywood Saree Style which she was dressed up for her 2015 Movie promo ABCD 2, making her appearance in a pre-stitched saree by Babita Malkani.
The saree looked flawless and is on the top list of party wear saree styles and western saree styles.
Steps to Wear Bollywood Saree Like Shraddha Kapoor
Complete Step by Step Guide for Shraddha Kapoor Saree draping
- Put on your Leggings and Blouse, or western top to suit this look. Take a printed georgette saree with one flat border on the saree. This will make it easier to drape and also get you the same look as Shraddha Kapoor.
- Put on your heels, for the saree length, start draping saree from the right side of your waist. Wrap it around once till the right and tuck in at waistline properly.
- Take one more wrap from right to the left side of the waist and tuck it in waist neatly.
- From this point take the saree edge and start making pleats facing at the backside, pleats of 4-5 inch and 4 pleats max. Turn the pleats and tuck at the side waist so that the front side appears clean with no pleats seen.
- Now take the edge to the right backside, and tuck edge in the waistline. Here we will make pleats again, same they will face and open at the backside, 4 pleats of 4-5 inches, and tuck this on the right-side waist.
- You will have your saree edge from where the top border starts from, so this is the point you leave free untucked. Now take the pallu section (width-wise section) and make pleats, smaller pleats of 3 inches (7.62 cm).
- Place them directly on your left shoulder from the front, so that the pleats hang from your left shoulder of about your back knee level. Use a pin to pin at the shoulder with the blouse.
- Drag across the inner border and pleats (3 first pleats) to the right waist side, they should be pulled tightly not loosely draping. Hold them there and then bend lower to pick your saree lower border edge which falls on the straight level as your side waist.
- Pick up the border in a pleating manner roughly going upwards in a straight line till your side waist, by placing pleat over the pleat but keeping the border edge you started with as your first top pleat.
Do this till you reach the pleats you were holding at your side waist and pin them together on your side waistline. This will create a cowl drape on your front side and side hipline. Tuck in the back cowl under your saree border falling down straight below.
That completes your western saree drape of Bollywood saree style like Shraddha did in a look of Babita Malkani Designer Saree. Watch the Video of Saree Draping get an easy understanding of this saree style.
