#1. Kuldhara village, Rajasthan

So, first things first! This village has many stories glued with it, and so it is still one of the abandoned places In India. Only 17 km away from Jaisalmer, this village has a very demanding story. It is said that, approx. 300 years ago,  A king named Salim Singh had his evil eyes on the daughter of the Mukhya of the village. Also, he desired to marry her by threatening her and also to the villagers. Ultimately, the villagers of more than 85 villages gathered and council to leave the village. In that period, brahmins lived here, and so as a result, they gave the curse to Kuldhara that no one will be able to settle here in this village. And so this village is abandoned to date.

#2. Chiktan, Ladakh

No doubt that this place has beautiful and awe-inspiring views and scenic, this fort was known as Chiktan Razi Khar. This castle was so beautiful that the king of this castle, wished to cut-off the architect’s hand, Baltistan, Shingkhan Tsandan. But, he can’t because of his wife’s alacrity to the architect. And it is a spookily beautiful place.

#3. Vijayanagara, Karnataka

The name itself explains “The City of Victory”, was the prosperous capital of India in that era. This city attracted many tourists from all around the world. This city was flourished between the 14th and 16th century and it is still the center of attraction for architectures and archaeologists because of its Sacred sculptures, monuments, temples, and palace.

#4. Bhangarh, Rajasthan

Bhnagarh is one of the most haunted places in Asia and the most haunted place in India. Bhangarh is the “Town of Ghosts”  from the last 500 years. A saying goes on of a Tantrik, who uses black magic and fell in love with the princess of Bhangarh, in early 1600s. He tried to give a magical potion to her, to possess her and marry him, the princess got to know about this and threw that potion. What happened next is the Tantrik cursed the whole village and it got destroyed by the rivals in no time and became the Town of Ghosts and paranormal activities are the most common thing here. The one who goes in the dark never comes back.

Gandikota is very well known as “The Grand Canyon Of India”. And if you are looking for some ‘alone place’ then this is the place where you have to be. The good news is the government is looking forward to giving it world-class heritage status.

Fatehpur Sikri is abandoned since 1585, the reason of its abandonment was a very common and major problem of our globe, lack of water. This city was famous as it was the capital of Emporer Akbar, and it is still the center of attraction for its unspoiled architecture.

#8. Shethihali Church, Karnataka

This church was really beautiful and inspiring in its own time, but as it gets submerged every year in water in monsoon season, it becomes one beautiful abandoned place to visit (leaving 3 months of monsoon).

#9. Ross Island, Andaman

Ross Island was the administrative capital of the islands before an earthquake struck it in 1941. And the situation is prohibited for settlement on this island. Even if you want to visit the island, you have to sign-in which is being controlled and managed by the Indian Navy now.

#10. Mandu, Madhya Pradesh

Mandu is the result of love stories and the Mughal dynasty. Mandu has a lot of stories about how it got ruined or abandoned. In spite of being abandoned, it is also a must-visit place for architect lovers. The Palace and monuments of this place are world-famous.
